Breaking the glass ceiling
So you've reached the pinacacle of your career! You're the boss and everything's in place to keep you at the office for as long as possible,
You've got a cleaner, a gardener, a nanny, food cooked by the local deli / gourmet caterer. Clothes washed and delivered by the local laundry. You're travelling weekly and managing 300 people across 3 states.
But women are still not getting on to Australian boards! In fact the % decreased in the last year!
Women need this:- understanding employers, flexible hours and job sharing , child care that works for them and fits in with their lifestyle; women can maanage 100 different things and play 5 different roles, but it takes a supportive environment.
Are corporations loosing the wealth of experience women gain in their 20's and early 30's in important organisational roles? Why do more women run their own business in Australia than men? Women have truly shown their worth, strategically, tactically and in the sensitive management of people.
Yet still Australian men don't seem to want family issues in the boardroom?Australia needs a fundamental shift in the way both men and women think about boards and what is needed. Women can't keep opting out of the corporate world, we need to stay in there, start lobbying the key decision makers and take a stand. We need to start making the changes necessary, to protect the future careers of our children, especially the girls!
So I will give you some key tips to breaking that glass ceiling and getting on those boards and making a difference to our future.
