What is creativity?

At this time of year I take time to consider what it is that I am committed to in 2011. One thing is creativity and having that value alive and well in my life daily.

Creativity is quite a personal thing. It can be expressed in so many ways, but importantly it is the expression of self, it comes from within and often it can be quite confronting sharing it. It is the fear of rejection that holds us back from sharing it. Who has written a poem or piece of prose, or painted a picture only to stuff it in the back closet, scared of others judgements and assessments.

I am personally taking a stand to share my creativity this year, embracing any fear of rejection and standing in that place of encouraging others to also share their creativity, whether expressed in writing, pictures or speech.

I did my first painting in years this month, as a Christmas gift for someone very dear to me. Here it is, I am sharing it with the world. I honestly hadn't painted something so ambitious for years, and did get some coaching from a very accomplished artist, but I did it myself and the sense of achievement and satisfaction it generated in me I want to keep experiencing.

So get out there, get creative, enjoy!!
